Professional Experience

November/2010 until now – Intrasoft International – Belgium

  • Business analyst in education projects: Business process analyst of core business processes at the European Commission. I’ve been working directly with business owners and IT professionals to analyze and model business processes using BPMN and Aris Business Architect.

September/2006 until September/2010 – Université catholique de LouvainLouvain School of Management – Belgium

  • Business analyst in an insurance project: Participated in a project at Fortis Bank (BNP Paribas Fortis) in cooperation with Namahn, a user-centered design consultancy company. Business and IT professionals were interviewed and observed aiming at gathering understanding of their context, where there is a strong culture for business processes. We conceived and evaluated a methodology that aligns business processes with user interfaces of applications. The goal was to easily identify what is the impact over the processes when users have problems to use the systems.
  • Business analyst in a telecommunications project: Coordinated a project in Belgacom, applying a methodology to link business processes with user interfaces of applications. This experience enabled the definition and modeling of business processes, alignment of processes with heterogeneous enterprise systems and identification of business process improvements and their impact on the systems.
  • Lecturer at University of Hasselt: Invited lecturer on the User Centered Design Master course at the Expertise Center for Digital Media (EDM) at University of Hasselt, Belgium in April of 2008, 2009 and 2010.
  • Usability engineer in an eHealth project: Post-doc research in a project for the design of a platform that provides health services. As a usability engineer, I designed prototypes of the platform contextualized for elderly people applying usability guidelines considering accessibility on tactile devices.
  • Award: Received the IBM PhD Fellowship Award in 2009, which gave the opportunity to collaborate with researchers at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center in New York for seven weeks. During this experience, we researched about interactive design and business process management, consolidating our scientific contributions.

May/2001 until August/2006 – University of Fortaleza – Brazil – Human-Computer Interaction Research Laboratory

  • Project manager and usability engineer in a Digital TV project: As a project manager, I was responsible for monitoring the activities, schedule and deliverables according to a software development process based on RUP in a multi-disciplinary team. As a usability engineer, I was responsible for conducting requirements workshops, UI design, prototypes reviews, and performing and monitoring usability tests with end-users.
  • Usability engineer in an education project: Usability and accessibility evaluation of a distance learning system.
  • Researcher: Research projects in the integration of Human-Computer Interaction, Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence.
  • Association: Vice-coordinator of the Brazilian chapter of the ACM Computer Human Interaction group (ACM BR-CHI) for the 2005 term.

February/2002 until August/2006 – Mentores Consultoria – Brazil – IT Consulting Company

  • Test analyst: Exploratory testing and usability evaluation during the development of a system for strategic planning.
  • System analyst: System analysis and design using UML for the development of a strategic planning system, a credit system in a financial company (Oboé Financeira) and an insurance policy management system in a health insurance company (Unimed).
  • Development process consultant: Training on the software development RUP and adaptation of the process and artifacts for the project needs in IT departments of a pharmaceutical company (Pague Menos) and a health insurance company (Unimed).
  • Project manager: Project manager of software development projects according to RUP, PMBOK and agile methodologies in IT departments of a financial company (Oboé Financeira) and a health insurance company (Unimed).

August/1999 until May/2001 – IVIA – Brazil – Software Development Company

  • Software developer: Development of web-based applications using ASP, accessing Oracle or SQL Server for various domains. The applications that I gave a significant contribution were: On-line reservation for a hotel (Beach Park Suites Resort), Intranet for a Construction company (Construtora Marquise), e-procurement for a beverage company (Coca-Cola in the Northeast of Brazil), e-commerce for a clothing store (Via Direta), Intranet of an investment bank (Bank in the Northeast of Brazil – BNB), and others.
